How To Reset The System. Method 1: Using the TPMS Reset Button. Turn the ignition to "On" (but don't start the car). Press and hold the TPMS reset button (usually located beneath the steering wheel or in the glove box). Hold it until the TPMS light blinks three times. Release the button and wait for 20 minutes for the sensor to refresh. Method 2: Relearning the TPMS Sensors (Manual Method). Inflate all tires to the recommended pressure (including the spare tire, if your car has a TPMS sensor on it). Turn the ignition to the "On" position (but don't start the engine). Press the hazard light button 6 times (you should hear the horn beep, and the TPMS light will blink to indicate the system is in learning mode). Start with the front-left tire. Deflate it until the horn beeps. Move to the front-right tire, then the rear-right, and finally the rear-left tire, deflating each until the horn beeps. Once all four tires have been registered, the horn will beep twice, signaling the TPMS reset process is complete.Method 3: Using a TPMS Reset Tool. If your vehicle requires a TPMS reset tool. Inflate the tires to the recommended levels. Turn the ignition to "On" without starting the engine. Follow the instructions for your specific TPMS reset tool, which generally involves selecting the tire position and using the tool near each tire's valve stem to communicate with the sensor.
After the tool communicates with each sensor, the horn will beep, and the process is complete. For some Ford models, simply driving for a while after correcting tire pressure issues will reset the TPMS light. If the system detects that all tires are properly inflated, the TPMS light may turn off automatically after driving at 20+ mph for 10-30 minutes.
